Sojourner Family Peace Center
With the construction of their new facility in the heart of Milwaukee, the Sojourner Family Peace Center sought to transform the services and support that victims of domestic violence receive during a crisis. The Family Peace Center has created space in one central location for a multitude of partners who address family violence. One of the first and largest such centers in the U.S., the $20-plus million project was designed on the Family Justice Center model, pioneered in San Diego and endorsed by the United States Department of Justice. Surrounding victims of domestic violence with all of the resources they need when they are in crisis, in the same location where they are sheltered, has proven to be the most effective model for healing and rebuilding lives, the DOJ concluded. Brothers Interiors worked with architectural partner Zimmerman and General Contractor Mortenson to provide all the furnishings for the entire building. Pulling from over 20 manufacturers to support the many different agencies in the building, Brothers was to fit the unique needs of the space while providing installation services and moving Sojourner from their former home.
